Analysis of fMRI signals in depressive patient
Depression is the most common mental disorder. According to the World Health Organization fact sheet on depression, approximately 350 million people of all ages are affected by it. Depression affects the everyday life of patients, leading to loss of interest, poor concentration, and disruption in sleep. The pathophysiology of depression remains elusive, and the current standard diagnostic methods (e.g., Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM)) are of concern because the diagnosis made based on these methods relies on clinical criteria and subjective interpretation. Thus, efforts towards the development of objective diagnostic approaches are ongoing.
